GO CAPITAL, a multi-regional private equity firm, has just completed the sale of its entire stake in Quortex, a Rennes-based deep tech company that provides a live online video streaming solution. The deal comes as part of the company’s acquisition by Synamedia, the world’s largest independent video software provider.
Founded in 2018, Quortex is revolutionising online video streaming by offering a multi-cloud software solution that enables video broadcasters to significantly reduce costs while improving broadcast reliability. Based on patented technologies, the “Just-In-Time Everything, Everywhere” concept automatically adapts processing to demand and network variations. Quortex is also a founding member of “Greening of Streaming”, an international organisation working to reduce the carbon footprint of streaming.
In May 2020, GO CAPITAL invested in Quortex via the Ouest Ventures III fund, alongside Elaia, UNEXO and private investors. The team of investors was persuaded by the disruptive technological solution, the company’s high-quality personnel and the market potential driven by the growing popularity of online videos and streamed content.
In two years, the company’s business has expanded rapidly, with the acquisition of notable customers such as beIN Media Group, M6 Group and Red Bee Media, while also strengthening its range of solutions – particularly through the launch of an SaaS offering.
Quortex employees will join Synamedia, which will take advantage of the dynamism of the Rennes ecosystem to strengthen its research and development teams. Quortex will leverage its brand and products, while benefiting from Synamedia’s customer base, financial strength and global presence.
